Contemporary Economics in the Berkshires

The American Institute for Economic Research announces its 2016 Summer Speaker Series, held each year at its scenic campus in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
The series features members of AIER’s expert research staff discussing key contemporary economic issues confronting many Americans.
“AIER’s Summer Speaker Series offers that rarest of things, economic insights that are relevant, useful and understandable,” said AIER President Stephen J. Adams.
The lectures take place on eight consecutive Tuesdays at 4 p.m., and include:
- June 28: “What Is Happening to Our Jobs,” by Polina Vlasenko, senior research fellow.
- July 5: “What’s the Best Age to Claim Social Security – 62, 66 or 70?” by Luke Delorme, director of financial planning at American Investment Services, which is wholly owned by AIER.
- July 12: “Our Inflation Crystal Ball,” by Jia Liu, research fellow.
- July 19: “Why People Move, and Why They’re Moving Less Often,” by Patrick Coate, research fellow.
- July 26: “Mom and Pop vs. Big Box: How Small Businesses Compete with Larger Rivals,” by Max Gulker, senior research fellow.
- August 2: “Using the Business Cycle to Manage Your Investments,” by Bob Hughes, senior research fellow.
The lectures will be held in the ballroom of AIER’s Stone House. They will take place from 4-5 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Reservations suggested: Please call 413-528-1216 x 3102.
AIER is located at 250 Division Street in Great Barrington. Look for the Summer Speaker Series sign along with the stone pillars, which mark our entrance off of Division Street. Follow the road to the turnoff at the hill, which leads to the Stone House.
