"Despite government efforts to rein in inflation, China’s consumer price index in February rose 4.9% from a year earlier for the second straight month–well above the government’s target of 4%–the National Bureau of Statistics said Friday. China’s producer price index, a measure of inflation pressures in the pipeline, rose 7.2% from a year earlier, up from January’s 6.6% rise, while value-added industrial output grew 14.1% and fixed asset investment outside rural areas grew 24.9%."
