New Orleans, La.

< BACK to CDI TOOL
New Orleans ranks third among midsize cities for its quality of life – namely, the city’s concentration of jazz bars and Cajun restaurants. It’s not only in the city’s French Quarter that tourists and residents alike can hear world-class musicians at all hours of the day and night. It also ranks third for racial and ethnic diversity. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the city’s Latino population rose, including a growing Brazilian population, with many arriving from other parts of the U.S. to work as skilled craftsmen. The labor market is clearly still recovering. However, employment levels in the innovation economy and rent rank in the middle of the pack and show promise.
