Lansing, Mich.

< BACK to CDI TOOL
This small metro serves as the capital of Michigan. However, Lansing made its way onto our top small metros list as the metro area encompassing East Lansing and Michigan State University. The college helps maintain a fairly educated population, with over 30 percent of residents between the ages of 25 and 64 holding at least a BA. Lansing is also more accessible than most small metros, with over 8 percent of people using public transportation or biking. Labor-market conditions aren’t terrible, but one shouldn’t move to the city solely for job prospects after graduation.
