Dr. Judy Shelton Joins Atlas!
The Atlas Economic Research Foundation and the Sound Money Project welcome Dr. Judy Shelton as a new Senior Fellow. As an economist specializing in global finance and monetary issues, Dr. Shelton has given expert testimony before the Joint Economic Committee, Senate Banking, Senate Foreign Relations, House Banking, and House Foreign Affairs committees. Her international articles have been published by the New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, Nihon Keizai Shimbun and El Economista.

In her book, Money Meltdown (1994), she argues that sound money is the only proper foundation for an open world economy dedicated to free trade. Drawing on the legacy of the gold-based Bretton Woods system, she traces today’s financial crisis to irrational exchange rates and presents a compelling agenda for restoring order to the global currency system.
Dr. Shelton is a former Senior Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and was professor of international finance at DUXX graduate business school in Monterrey, Mexico. She was a staff economist for the National Commission on Economic Growth and Tax Reform chaired by Jack Kemp (1995-96) and has served on the board of directors of Hilton Hotels and Atlantic Coast Airlines. In September 2005 she was elected to the board of directors of the National Endowment for Democracy where she is the Board’s regional expert on Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, and also serves on the Budget and Audit Committee.
