How to Invest Wisely (2010)

( AIER )
$12.00

Written by Lawrence S. Pratt

Throwing darts at the financial pages can produce investment results that are equal or superior to the recommendations of experienced stock brokers and analysts. That’s because few professionals beat the market over long periods, no matter how well they do in any given year.

How to Invest Wisely tells you how to make investment decisions according to consistent criteria— rather than by following the latest financial fad.

It is based on analysis of decades of data from the Dow Jones Industrial Average by researchers at the American Institute for Economic Research, an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals protect their personal interests. The result is a method that takes the emotion out of managing your nest egg. How to Invest Wisely outlines this approach in simple, easy-to-understand language so that you can avoid the pitfalls of following the crowd.

Author Lawrence S. Pratt begins with the fundamentals of personal finance because he says, you cannot discuss investing sensibly without first discussing saving. He goes on to show you how to build a low-cost, low-risk portfolio that positions you to make market fluctuations work to your advantage.

No matter your age or station in life, no matter how small or large your holdings, you can benefit from How to Invest Wisely.

This is an excellent publication. In less than 100 pages the author explains the essence of investing - both for beginners and for those who have been
at it for a while & understand (or think they understand) some of the terminology & concepts. Since I put myself into the latter group, I was
able to start my reading a couple chapters into the book - everything was laid out beautifully & index funds (& how to use them) was clearly
explained. I speak with my investment advisors with a lot more confidence now. I ordered 2 additional copies of the book for my 2 adult daughters.rn
