The Economist is an experienced economics researcher who can write for non-economists. The Economist should be able to write on topics such as fiscal and monetary policy, money and inflation, Social Security reform, health care, property rights, and international economics. This position reports to the Director of Research and Education
Duties and Responsibilities: - Conduct in-depth research on economic issues and compile results in written articles of varying length for publication and dissemination to the public. The goal is to provide the average person with information, analysis, and guidance that will help with common but sometimes complex economic issues and provide commentary on the likely future consequences of current developments and policies.
- Contribute to statistical research activities by collecting data, performing statistical analysis, preparing charts and tables, and maintaining databases.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, assist in the review of other staff members’ written work, and aid in various “housekeeping” tasks, such as replying to correspondence from readers and maintaining files.
Qualifications and Skills: - Masters degree in economics or finance, or Bachelors degree with equivalent work experience.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Self-starter – able to take research project from start to finish.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Fluency in the English language.
- Must be able to meet deadlines.
