The Institute welcomes the limited outside use of our Main House and the E.C. Harwood Library by professional organizations and responsible groups. Our picturesque 100-acre campus provides the ideal backdrop for a conference, or corporate event.

The Main House at AIER

The Institute was originally located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At the end of World War II, founder Edward C. Harwood relocated to a Cotswold cottage-style manor in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. The E.C. Harwood Library was built in 1962 on the hillside below the Main House to accommodate research staff and its extensive library collection. This 10,000 square-foot building was renovated in 2002 and contains the principal offices for the AIER research and support staff.

The Main House The Main House

The Main House at AIER was built in the late 1920’s. The ballroom of this historic manor will seat up to 90 people for a presentation or sit down dinner. Antique glass doors on the south side open to an expansive lawn, patio and a beautiful view of Mt. Everett and the valley below.

Elegant glass chandeliers and stone flooring make the entry hall a stunning reception area. Adjacent to the ballroom and entry hall are several smaller rooms for private functions. A moderately-sized commercial kitchen is perfect for catered events. The Main House also has fifteen bedrooms that are nicely furnished for overnight guests.
